Dr. Laurie MacDiarmid's Advanced Seminar in Creative Writing and Contempary Literature

Content of the Class

Students critique each other’s fiction, poetry and creative nonfiction, and study the works of contemporary writers and poets. The class includes individual tutorial sessions. Students are expected to complete a course portfolio of selected original works.

Choose Your Own Adventure Syllabus

On the first day of the class, students picked their projects for the semester. Dr. MacDiarmid set the framework for the class and allowed students to decide what they wanted to experience in the class.

TECHNOLOGY

Google Drive

Students shared a Google Folder with each other, allowing them to dive deeper into the critique of a piece and allow them to think more critically.
