Course Example

Shan Bryan-Hanson's Intermediate Painting

Content of the Class

Along with continued development of the methods and techniques explored in ART 240, students investigate indirect painting methods and contemporary painting practices and theory. Traditional and contemporary approaches to painting the human figure are introduced and students develop independent projects and individual artist statements.

ENGAGEMENT

Project Prompts

Each project has a guided prompt but leaves much space for individual expression and interpretation. The process is guided by class critique and individual discussion with the instructor.

TECHNOLOGY

Domains Project

The students present their work in a digital space through the Domains Project. Each student writes a blog about the process used to create each painting and includes a finished photo of the work and, if desired, process photos.
